My theory.

After thinking long and hard (yes yes we heard her), I came to the only plausible explanation as to why Nexon has decided to so thoroughly ruin Maplestory.

By ruin, I mean the insane overpowering of every class, but only for those who decide to spend a few hundred dollars. With the potential gear and now this new alien stuff, Nexon has efficiently ruined every player's previous items and time, replacing them with an entirely new generation of snooty rich kids who are already the bane of our existence. The big bang patch only magnified how badly they decided to overpower all the classes, effectively taking all the fun out of Maplestory. I considered this for a long time, then I realized that the only remotely plausible reason for this is that Nexon wants to combat hackers.

We all know that this was the general thought pattern of the hackers before all this overpowering:

Well, although I agree with any of your opinions and interpretations on maple being ruined, or with the rationale of hackers, it all comes down to 1 idea.

If maple isn't fun, then don't play.
